Here are two quotes about writing. I believe the first one - believed it from age 10 when I wrote my first word in my first journal. I've never been afraid of death because I feel like whoever discovers my journals and words will know something about me. I won't have faded away.
"Because when we're all dust and teeth and kicked-up bits of skin - when we're dancing with our own skeletons - our words might be all that's left of us."
From Scribbling the Cat by Alexandra Fuller
"Julian once told me that a story is a letter the author writes to himself, to tell himself things that he would be unable to discover otherwise."
From The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
I absolutely believe the first one, too! I've got a rather dramatic quote about writing that I'll be sharing on my blog soon.
ReplyDeleteCool - I'll be looking for it! I sometimes need the writing quotes to remember that I'm not the only one out there... :)
