Thought for today:
It is normal, even healthy, to limit interaction with other adults sometimes.
Words like:
Hermit
Lazy
Antisocial
are not meaningful characterizations of solitude.
Instead:
Reflective
Restful
Self-acceptance
more accurately describe why solitude is healthy and why one should not ignore the urge to be alone.
I agree but I did learn a few years ago that it’s nice to be on your own sometimes but only if you choose to.
ReplyDeleteI run from it, though I know I should not.
ReplyDelete@Eternal worrier - I agree! It only works if you want to be alone...otherwise it just sucks.
ReplyDelete@Suburbia - just read your "Kindhearted Boy" post. So eerie because just last night I had my first "feelings" conversation with my 3 and a half year old last night. It broke my heart that he was struggling with complex emotions and wasn't really able to articulate how he felt. I'm so glad as moms though that our sons feel like they can wade into the emotional realm.
